Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Automation & Platform Services

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support and improve critical enterprise engineering platforms and automation services.

The role involves production support, platform administration, incident management, automation, reliability engineering, and lifecycle management across platforms including GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, Nexus Repository Manager, HashiCorp Vault, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Ansible, Python, Jenkins, Kubernetes, production operations, and enterprise platform administration, with a strong focus on reliability and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations & Reliability

• Support and maintain critical production engineering services.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and participate in incident response.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Improve service reliability, availability, resiliency, and recoverability.
• Manage platform upgrades, patching, configuration, and lifecycle activities.
• Support vulnerability remediation and security initiatives.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and support procedures.
• Contribute to disaster recovery and operational risk reduction initiatives.

Automation & Engineering

• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Jenkins, Python, and REST APIs.
• Create reusable Ansible playbooks, roles, workflows, and automation solutions.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual operational effort through automation.
• Follow software engineering best practices including Git, testing, peer reviews, documentation, and coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, efficiency, and operational maturity.
• Support platform modernization and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to technical debt reduction and operational efficiency.
• Work within established ServiceNow and Azure DevOps (ADO) processes for planning and prioritization.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
• Strong Python development and scripting experience.
• Experience with REST API integration and automation development.
• Strong experience administering Jenkins in enterprise environments.
• Experience with Jenkins controllers, agents, pipelines, and CI/CD troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes environments.
• Experience troubleshooting containerized applications.
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management.
• Experience with Git, source control, testing, and peer review processes.
• Strong production support and incident management experience.
• Experience with RCA, SLA/SLO, reliability, availability, and disaster recovery concepts.

Preferred Platform Experience

Hands-on administration experience with one or more of the following is highly preferred:

• Red Hat OpenShift
• GitHub Enterprise
• Jenkins
• Nexus Repository Manager
• HashiCorp Vault

Candidates should have experience with installation, configuration, upgrades, security, maintenance, integration, or operational support of these platforms. Merely using these tools as an end user is not sufficient.
